Quick Reference Guide
Safety is our first responsibility
Doors – The main entrance to ALMS has a locked security door and intercom system. Visitors are expected to identify themselves and their purpose before entering the building
Identification – Please bring your driver’s license when you visit our school. Office staff will ask to see your license if you wish to interact with your student, to verify that you have permission to be in contact with the student.
Only individuals listed as approved contacts on your student’s “Emergency Card” are allowed access to your student. You can update the emergency card at any time on Parent Portal.
What to do?
Planned Absence – If you know your student will be absent from school for an upcoming event, you may send written notification with your student to the Main Office. We will provide students a form to share with their teachers, so that teachers are informed and can help the student plan to make up assignments, etc.
Sick – If your student has a fever of at least 100 degrees or has been vomiting, please keep them home until they are symptom-free without medication for 24 hours. If your student becomes sick at school with the previously mentioned symptoms, they should be picked up as soon as possible. As a rule, if your child does not feel well, it is best to keep them at home.
If your student is sick and will not be in school, please inform the Main Office prior to 10 AM so that we can correctly mark their attendance. After 10 AM, a written note will be required to change attendance from unexcused to excused in our PowerSchool system.
Homework – Students should email teachers directly for make up work.
Transportation – If your student will be riding a different bus than usual, or will be getting off at a different stop, a note from a parent or guardian is required. If you need to make an unexpected afternoon transportation change, please contact the Main Office by email or phone. For safety reasons, we will not accept transportation changes after 2:30 PM.
Medication – If you would like to leave medication (over-the-counter or prescription) for your student to take during the school day, you will need to complete a “Request for Administration of Medication” form available at our nurse’s webpage. Pease note that a new form must be completed every school year and medication is not stored over the summer. Students are not permitted to keep medications on their person; therefore, please do not send medication to the Main Office with your student.
Deliveries of Flowers / Gifts – If your student receives a flower/gift delivery, they will be held in the Main Office until the end of the school day. It is the student’s responsibility to pick up these items.
Scheduling a Meeting – Faculty are happy to meet with you. Please call or email to schedule an appointment to ensure your time won’t be wasted in waiting for availability.
